[実車解説] The landing in Europe compelled the allies to replace the M10 type mounting the 76.2 gun with some new tank hunters fitted with the 90 mm gun to fight the German heavy tanks. The result was the M36 B2: the Sherman M4 A 3 chassis mounting the turret of the M36. As the M36 entered service the M10 were shipped back to the factories to be refitted with the new weapon mount and were then officially designated M36B1. Two improvements were brought by the addition of an armour plate making the roof of the turret and a muzzle brake for the gun later on. The M36 saw combat in 1944 and is still in active duty in some armies as observed in Croatia in 1990. |
